MADRID — Thanks to the success of songs like "Nothin' On You" and "Airplanes," B.o.B has gone global in 2010, so performing in Spain is nothing new for the Atlanta-bred MC.
But when that performance comes at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards ... well, that's a different story. Because even though B.o.B has rocked stages — and award shows — all around the world, he's definitely planning on taking things to another level this time out, as we found out when we spoke to him minutes after he wrapped a booming, electric rehearsal.
"It feels like arena rock, that's what it feels like," he told MTV News' special EMA correspondent Gabe Saporta on Friday (November 5). "I feel the VMAs, it was real sleek, real suave. I feel like over here, it's just about rocking, and that's just what we might do."
Saporta joked that Madrid's Caja Magica — which will play host to the 2010 EMAs on Sunday — seats "about 100,000," a number that didn't intimidate B.o.B in the slightest. Quite the opposite, in fact.
"That's a lot of people under one roof!" he laughed. "Can you imagine if 100,000 people just hot-boxed the whole arena?"
No, we can't, but now that you mention it, that would be pretty awesome. And again, though award shows are nothing new to B.o.B, the EMAs just seem different ... a whole new experience for a guy who, after a massive 2010, is practically running out of ways to be amazed.
"I'm excited to check our Rihanna, [and] I want to check out Katy Perry," he said. "[But] really, [I'm] excited to see how the crowd embraces the artists and the performers. Every time I come to Europe, it's a very receptive crowd. They really appreciate the music."
The 2010 EMAs will air on MTV2 on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, and an edited, performance-heavy version will be broadcast Friday, November 12, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
